well yesterday I mounted up my lm-25's for some winter fun and today I got around to checking out my proxes 4s that came off. It looks like a have right around 4/32 of thread, they still have a little life left but i dont want to be stuck needing new tires half way through the summer season.

I'm really interested in a set of Advan's, or maybe g-forces because i've heard nothing but good things about them, however i dont want to spend over 650 if i can help it...

I dont autox or anything like that, just mostly spirited driving.

If you guys could throw out some ideas so i can do some more research that would be great!

We have three sets of wheels with Falken azenis rt-615's. I use them at autox's on one set, and for daily driving on the other. They have a shitty treadwear rating, but I have had great luck, and think that 200 is really more like 300

im looking at the g-force kdw2's, the have great ratings in both wet and dry and reviews say that can really be pushed hard however at the expense of a lot of road noise.

also the potenza re760 sports arelooking promising, similar to the g-forces minus the road noise but it looks as if steering response is not to great with these.

but these Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec that i have been reading about seem to be amazing, they have the highest ratings on wet, dry, steering response, and cornering!

May want to check these out..

Vredestein Sessantas

good price... we run them on ALOT of different cars...

Fattie has them as summers on the subaru.. ive tracked them on my R32 Have lots of benzs on them with picky customers that only like michelin.... everyone likes them..

I have the same amount of grip as a PS2.... better in the rain... but 130-0 braking is a TINY bit longer... Tires get a little greasy on a track (only under braking) with 95 degree temps.... but for being STREET tires, they performed well for the little bit of track driving i did... (once a year)

I personally hate proxes... but people love the price...

My Kumho MX'es have lasted sence spring 05. (Blizzak WS-50's 4 winter)
They did very well in the nor-cal twisties but alas,Tire Rack doesn't sell my size anymore. This spring I'll be Getting Direzza Sport Z1 Star Specs. Let me know what kind of deal you get.

When it comes to a DD summer tire, General Exclaim UHP's FTW...

Sticky, generally quiet, excellent wet traction and hydroplaning resistance and all for around $90 a tire for 225/45-17.

**This is on a FWD car mind you, but handling is improved 100x's over my stock Conti A/S's. I used to break traction all the way through 3rd gear but now I barely spin in first and when the tires are warm I grab almost instantly after some wheel hop lol.

I'm a big fan of Bridgestone Potenza RE-01Rs. They were recently discontinued though, but supposedly their replacement RE-11s are even better. Under a grand for all 4 corners shipped from TireRack.

My favorites. They wear but they are relatively cheap for an max performance summer tire. I buy a set every year. I may try those Star specs. I hear really good things about them.

I used to run RE01-Rs and now I have a set of RE11s. GREAT tires but they wear fast. Perfect for a sports car though.

One of my buddies is in love with them, he swears by the Star specs. He is actually getting decent life out of them too, which surprised me.

I got a bubble inside one of my RE-01Rs since it was sitting during the winter with low air pressure. Tires were too old to get warranty, but too new to be ok with replacing them. Sad
