I just "tactically acquired" a few ammo cans of assorted calibers when I was overseas last time. They're really great for storing all kinds of crap, cleaning kits, ammo, spare bits and pieces. They fit nicely on the top shelf of my safe.

are you using the crates and ammo.. or just crates?

They are typically sold per 500-1000. Price depends on the caliber. I usually pay about $35 per 1000 shells of 9mm.
