Me and a freind went to the track sunday, he has 2009 WRX with nothing but a turbo xs blow off valve, exhaust unbolted from the downpip, perrin drop in air filter, and a VR short shifter. I ran 13.3s all day and I thought I was doing good and he was running 13.5 to 13.6 until the last run he ran a 13.1 It is amazing how much Subaru under rated the 2009 WRX.

Nice, keep it at the track though man, racing GTOs and shit is fun and all, but not worth the risk. |

Yeah Subaru kinda shot themselves in the foot building the 09 WRX so close (power-wise) to the STi. Too bad they don't have good brakes or a worthwhile transmission. :-/ maybe when they kill the STi we will just get a really tough WRX. |

Pretty sure that link is to his friend's youtube site (with the wrx), so the "blue angel wrx" guy is the one doing the street racing.. But you're absolutely right, it isn't worth the risk, and the track is where it should be kept. As for a little spirited driving alone on some twisties though...
sjcurtis- wow man, I had no idea the 09 wrx was so close to the sti (in power). With your mods and transmission, I figured you'd have it in the bag. |

Don't get me wrong, i drive like a bat out of hell, on the back roads and twisities, but i don't drive near other folks that way, or race them on the street. I didn't realize that was his friends profile i was looking at, so good catch there.
As far as street racing, sure, it is fun, or no one would do it, but the bad thing about it that no matter how good of a driver you are, you can never know about the other person, and what could go wrong. At least there are wallsa t track!
Furthermore, those 09s do seem to turn a quick time, grats! That is way faster than my stock time of 14.1 or 14.3(cant remember) |

So, do you have the cobb stage 2 map on your car?? Do you have any of the time slips? This would give a better idea of how your sti compares to his wrx. If your trapping 109mph and running a 13.3 with a 2.2 60' we know your car hauls, you just need to work on driving. |

I have my own reasons for street racing. Though most may consider it to "not be worth the risk," it's a risk I do enjoy taking and will continue to. I'm not out there attempting this in a fashion where an innocent could be injured. Track mentality never stands for winning against the opponent, it's only pure concentration on what kind of times you're going to run, so it ruins the entire outlook.
Dirtyhobo - he's running Perrin's stage 2 map.. 1.8 60', 13.3 @ 103mph.
He doesn't claim to be the greatest driver in the world, and I have a lot more track time than he does.. I know he can break 12s, it's just going to take some practice. |

My 60' time was around 1.87 with 13.3 et and 103.9 trap. I have a stage 2 map from Perrin. And yes I do need to work on my driving, he is a much better driver on the track than I am but I am working on that. |

Hey you Selma guys.. off topic, but we're having a meet at Kaye Subaru in Mobile on April 24th if you guys are interested.. should be a huge turnout, maybe catered as well. Me and two others are driving down from here if you guys wanna meet up.
Ok back on topic. a 1.8 60' is a great time, especially with no more mods than that. |

You had an awesome 1/8 speed and time. It is almost the same I hit wtih my 06 wrx & a vf39 protuned. You can tell it dies down up top though because of the trap speed.

Yeah it definitely falls off at 5000rpms, you can feel the power die off. The new STi also had the power drop-off but the stage 2 definitely cleared it all and allowed for smooth and constant power throughout the band. Can't wait to get my upgrades! |
