I had them in my neighborhood back in MN, and there's one on the island I live on (go through it every day) as well as another much bigger one a few blocks away. I personally think they're great, but their biggest limitation is the idiots who use them. You know, people who want to turn left, and go backwards through the roundabout instead of 270 degrees around it, or who don't understand that there are multiple lanes on large roundabouts. If not for them, I'd much rather roundabouts than traffic lights, but with how stupid so many drivers are, I fear it would cause a (hopefully temporary) spike in traffic accidents.

Seems decent to me. I can see how it would reduced wrecks and be safer.

Then your going to get the young punks that watch too much tokyo drift and think they are drift king. Wink

I was in a roundabout a few nights ago and saw someone from the inside lane try to exit and the person in the outside lane wanted to continue around. Almost big accident. What are the rules in those situations?

Rule 1: Signal
Rule 2: Be nice.

Roundabouts encourage drivers to coorperate with each other whereas stop signs and stop lights keep drivers away from each other. I think society is better of when we all get a long instead of ignoring others needs don't you.

Ah I see. Yeah these things aren't that common in NY. Probably for a good reason too.

Because, in NJ you have the right of way when entering. In CT, and the few that I've seen in NY, you have the right of way if you are already inside. I guess I just don't like the ones in jersey.

Traffic circles have the right of way when entering... roundabouts do not.
