As requested by Sean, I will be filling out/documenting my engine/car build.
Car stats.
05 STi. I bought the car new with 7 miles on the odometer in october of '04. So far I have 93,000 miles on the clock (does this count as a high mileage car?) I have had not one problem with my car. I beat on it regularly and she doesn't complain. I still have the stock clutch.
Current mods. (lots of suspension mods)
Cobb accessport protuned by Doug from Topspeed +1 299hp/340tq
stock turbo. Aps 65mm intake, Aps inlet pipe, Aps fuel rails. Cobb catted downpipe. RsR catback. Gtspec unequal length jet hot coated headers.
Ohlins flag coilovers, with a Robbispec corner balance/alignment.
Whiteline ALK, roll center kit, 27mm front sway bar, 24mm (soon to be 27 as well) rear sway bar.
Cusco engine/transmission mounts. Tic poly bushings everywhere. Gt spec h-brace, Gtspec inner fender braces. Cusco strut tower braces. Cusco front lip w/matching aluminum under tray.
I'll list more as I remember.
Soon to be added.
I just purchased a used block that will be rebuilt with Carillo rods, Cp pistons, ACL bearings.
ATP 3076 bb stock mount turbo.
Aquamist hfs-5 with a 4gal fuel cell. 50/50 mixture (thanks Sean)
Turbo xs Dtec boost controller (nintendo gameboys are cool!)
Aps 725 FM
I also purchased a set of 06 sti heads that will be getting +1mm larger supertech valves. Supertech springs/retainers, a mild bowl porting, and kelford or possibly BC avcs cams.
There is more but can't remember all of it right now. Just had a wisdom tooth pulled and was prescribed a handfull of vicadin. Vicadin are cool.
Here are some pics for you guys. There are some of Seans power wagon in there from when we dropped the engine back in.

I'm such an awesome photographer! I even got the 66 chevelle in it.
Jamie, I don't want to get my car out on the track yet. Its just got too many miles on it. I'm getting an 06 transmission from a friend and then building the engine so after all that I'll be out there. I just don't want to blow her up yet. Plus my clutch is on it's last leg and my rotors are so bad you wouldn't even think I had brembo's if you drove it.
Are you going to subiefest? Were you gonna compete?
P.S. I just finished installing my LC-1/XD-16 wideband gauge. I'll have pics of that later;) |

What's wrong with the transmission you have now? |

Because mine has 93,000 miles on it. His has 31,000 miles. Plus I have another friend with an 06 that has a cusco rear diff. His car is on lease and he offered to give me the rear diff when he trades the car in. The problem with that is that I have to trade him the whole rear diff and the 05's have a different gear ratio than the 06. So I would have to swap the whole transmission over anyways. |

Its the 1.5. I think it can be changed to the 2-way though. Everywhere I've read about the aftermarket diffs say that you would want a 2-way in the rear and a 1.5 in the front. The main thing that sold me on it was how it distributes torque. I pulled his car into his driveway and 3-wheeled it. With one rear wheel completely off the ground I was able to smoothly drive it forward. On my car when I 3-wheel, and try to drive forward, the diff chunks and pops and won't move the car. The wheel thats raised is the only one that gets torque so it just spins freely.
So were you planning on getting rid of those 17's and getting 18's? Where did you get the wheels and for how much? (pm me that if you don't want to advertise) |
